How do Australians deal with US estate taxes of up to 40%?

4 September 2014

Legacy Law were delighted to host US lawyer John Campbell at our office on Monday 18 August 2014. Aware that many of our clients have connections with other countries (like us), we are keen to keep our clients and referrers abreast of relevant issues and strategies to manage those issues.

It is not hard to find people who understand tax in one jurisdiction but it is much harder to find someone who understands how tax operates across two or more jurisdictions. Without the latter, we find that clients suffer fatigue and costs escalate.

John has seen the most common Aus /US issues many times and presented us with practical pragmatic solutions for dealing with Australians owning assets in the US and many “donts” to avoid issues in the first place.

John has given us some copies of a book he has written so please get in contact if you would like us to share a copy with you.
